What are the courses?

Bus Driver Ready Program:
For individuals with no prior bus driving experience and those upgrading from a regular driver's licence. Gain the essential skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to navigate the roads safely.

Accelerated Bus Driving Program:
Tailor-made for experienced drivers holding a HR Licence. Cruise through the basics and dive straight into advanced techniques.

How long is the training?

Training duration varies based on experience and individual competency. Transit Academy students receive comprehensive training that combines classroom‑based learning with on‑road experience. Drivers upgrading their licence will travel with a buddy driver for as long as needed, until they are confident and assessed as competent by our highly qualified trainers.

What are the requirements for a bus driver role?
  • Have a normal drivers licence (C Class Licence) or HR Licence
  • Have full working rights in Australia, or Permanent resident of Australia, or citizen of Australia or New Zealand
  • Hold an unrestricted Australian Driver’s Licence
  • Prepared to work varying shifts
  • Be willing to undergo a pre-employment medical examination with a company medical service
  • Have a good driving record

Transit Systems partners with TAFE NSW for vital EV training program

Recognising the critical need to prepare its workforce for the continual evolvement of transportation, Transit Systems, has launched its first pilot Electric Vehicle (EV) connect and disconnect training course, in partnership with TAFE NSW. This program is designed to equip maintenance staff with the essential skills needed to safely service and repair electric buses.
